First of all I’m Back ! I’ve not had much of a chance to post much lately, and my site has also been down for the past couple of days, no fault of mine, but that of my host. All is now good and I can unveil what I’ve been up to.
To the untrained eye everything may seem as normal, but you would be wrong, this site has gone through the next phase of it’s existence and now has a very powerful “special relationship” with a new ally. What am I gibbering on about? Expression Engine of course.
I have been tinkering around with Expression Engine for a few days, mostly from curiosity sparked by a few blogs that I read. Expression Engine is an extremely powerful CMS that I have decided to use as the backend for this site. This was a choice for a few reasons, these being:
- I wanted to learn how to use it.
- I don’t have the time to work on the backend of this site, and I want to focus on developing the design
- In the future it will get progressively difficult to manage the custom CMS that I built.
- EE has a wealth of handy features that are simple and secure
In the next few days I will be stripping back the site design to a basic container to give me a blank canvas to redesign. I don’t have too many ideas of what I want to do with it yet but that’s the fun of the process.I also have to sort a few details with the implementation of EE, including that of the photo gallery. The photo gallery was one of the reasons that I chose to use EE but unfortunately its not as feature rich as would have hoped for, but well it will do the job. As I get a bit more proficient in the use of EE I will be able to do a few more interesting things, but for now its all new.
